This week's recipe for Tuesday's with Dorie is Vanilla-Mango Panna Cotta.
This made for a perfect Father’s Day Treat. Everyone loved it!
This week's recipe for Tuesday's with Dorie is Chocolate-Cherry Brownies. We absolutely love brownies at our house. But, I have to admit I never would have dreamed of putting cherries in a chocolate brownie.
This recipe has a very similar base to our favorite brownie recipe. We have a recipe that came from a family friend that we have been making for years. (It is the top requested dessert at all family gatherings.) Although our base is similar, we use nuts instead of cherries. In fact, I have a feeling our family recipe started out as part of Julia Child's recipe and slowly evolved into one we could call our own.
On to this week's brownie recipe. We loved how easy it was and the fact that it all came together in one bowl. We started by putting the cherries in the wine and water mixture. I have to admit we used some Mogen David that we had left over from a holiday. It seemed a perfect use for this sweet wine. After setting the cherries aside to cool we mixed all of the other ingredients together in a bowl and added the finely chopped chocolate and cherries at the end to form a nice thick, chunkie mixture.
We baked these at 325 degrees for 29 minutes. We probably could have turned the oven up to 350 or baked for a few more minutes. However, we prefer our brownies on the underdone side, so this worked well for us. My daughter and I thought these were a tasty new twist. My husband wouldn't even finish the one he tried. He definitely prefers our old recipe. I'll test these out on more family tonight and see what they think.
If you would like to try this recipe it can be found on page 322 of Dorie Greenspan's book, Baking Chez Moi.
This week's recipe for Tuesdays with Dorie is Rhubarb Upside-Down Brown Sugar Cake. I can honestly say I have never tried rhubarb before, so this was a first.
This week’s Tuesday’s With Dorie recipe was Limoncello Cupcakes. This was an easy, yummy treat to make.
We were going to skip this week’s recipe because we had been traveling and were so busy. But, my daughter convinced me to make these bars and I’m so glad she did. These were a big winner at my house!
We made Lemon Madeleines this week with the Tuesdays with Dorie baking group. I had never made madeleines before.
