I’m so excited to join Tuesday’s with Dorie and be able to start baking at the beginning of a brand new cookbook, Baking Chez Moi by Dorie Greenspan. My cookbook arrived over the weekend and my daughter went through it cover to cover before I even got to take a look. She did stop frequently to tell me about recipes she wanted to make and show me pictures. I assured her that we were going to try to make them all. We are both very excited to get started.
The first recipe we tried is Palets de Dames. It was nice to start with an easy recipe. The only thing I needed that I didn’t have was a 2 tsp. cookie scoop. (I know we could have done without it, but it was an excuse to get a new utensil.) I’m sure there will be more to come as we go through this baking journey.
As you can see from my photos this recipe used very simple ingredients that we had in the house. We creamed the butter mixture, added the dry ingredients and voila we had cookie dough.
The recipe said it would make approx. 40 cookies, we ended up with 34. Just enough that we needed a third baking sheet to stick in after the first two came out. Of course those last four were cooked to a perfect color because we knew just when to take them out after the first round.
The cookies were smaller than they looked in the picture in the book, but were a perfect size for eating. We used the glaze as it was called for in the recipe and it had just the right amount of sweetness atop the cookie.
The full recipe can be found in the cookbook Baking Chez Moi by Dorie Greenspan.
We are looking forward to making the Cranberry Crackle Tart next. We may be a few days late in posting as we want to make for Thanksgiving and are worried if we bake it on Tuesday it may not be as fresh as it should be on Thursday.
